Mumbai Indians Branding Upgrades Wankhede Stadium Look

Thanks to Reliance Industries, aka the Ambani family that own the IPL team, Mumbai Indians, and their constant endeavour to make the venue spectator-friendly, the Wankhede Stadium was not only a sea of blue for the first home match of Season 17 between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, but the 50-year-old stadium at D Road, Churchgate itself looked classy and grand with its branding team giving emphasis to the team’s luminous blue in elements inside and outside the stadium. MI has always made refreshing changes to its branding during the IPL matches depicting its entire team and bringing in themes like the “Mumbai Meri Jaan” theme song. The team symbol, Sudarshan Chakra is another striking part of the MI branding. The only disappointment for the “Mumbai Paltan” on Monday (April 1) was that their favourite team went down to Rajasthan Royals. The Jaipur franchise is making up a lot for Rajasthan’s dismal displays in the Ranji Trophy against Mumbai. The nearly full house stadium expressed its fondness for Rohit Sharma shouting “Rohit, Rohit, Rohit” and booing the new captain Hardik Pandya. But a big part of the crowd applauded Pandya’s bold, big and brave shots as he began the process of repairing the damage inflicted by left-arm seamer Trent Boult. The spectators had a good fill of the overall atmosphere and would be hoping for winning results in the forthcoming matches.
